Overview

Mirano Type System — Variable Type System for Bold, Modern Interfaces

Mirano is a variable type system inspired by the iconic lettering of classic German automotive design, reimagined for today’s visual standards. Its geometric structure, influenced by Aldo Novarese’s legendary Eurostile, feels measured, confident, and aerodynamic.

Mirano refines that heritage with a more expansive stance, a sharper rhythm, and a streamlined finish. The result is a type family with a mechanical yet premium atmosphere — built for clear, authoritative headlines and dependable performance across modern digital design systems.

Precision Architecture & Flexibility:

Spanning a full variable weight axis from Thin to Bold across Normal, Semi-Condensed, and Condensed widths, Mirano provides complete control over typographic tone:
* The Italics: Meticulously redrawn for greater speed and agility. They maintain the directness and compact efficiency of the roman styles while infusing kinetic forward motion.
* Kerning & Spacing: Complete overhaul for razor-sharp spacing across all widths and weights.
* Under-the-hood Tuning: Optimized bezier curves for flawless rendering across high-density digital displays and large-scale architectural signage.

Features & Specifications:

  • Family Matrix: 36 static weights (6 Weights × 3 Widths + matching Italics)
  • Variable Font: Full 3-axis variable file (Weight wght, Width wdth, Italic ital)
  • Glyph Set: 562 glyphs supporting Latin, Greek, Western & Central European languages
  • Formats Included: TTF, WOFF, and WOFF2 formats for seamless desktop and web integration
  • OpenType Features: Tabular figures, fractions, case-sensitive forms, contextual alternates
